Smilie Toast is a Drop In centre that is open on Wednesday mornings and serves free tea, coffee and breakfast. Our aim is to demonstrate the love of God through providing a place where people can come, take refreshment, be listened to and make friends. We are also able to offer prayers for anyone who requests it.
We are based in the Lower Hall of the church, access is via the first door on the right side of the church. We meet Wednesdays during term time 10.00am-12.30pm. You are welcome to stay all morning or just pop in for a quick cup of coffee and a chat. Please check out the Events page for the term openings.
We welcome people from the community of all ages and walks of life. Some of the people who access this service may be retired or just want to pop in for a chat and to socialise. Others come with young children, may be unemployed or work part-time.
The drop in sessions are run by a team of volunteers from South street Baptist church and led by Lloyd Paul Gallimore. It is funded entirely by the church – we do not charge for refreshment or facilities, however, there is an opportunity to give a donation towards cost for those that are able to.
There are computers with internet access and Wi-Fi facilities which are free to use – to edit CV's, check social media etc. Some toys and other provisions for young children and babies are also available. Please note, Parents/carers are responsible for their children at all times.
