COVID-19 Updates

Please check here for regular updates concerning Sunday services and Discipleship Classes at South Street Baptist Church.

Following the easing of the lockdown restrictions in England, churches are now permitted to re-open for services but with specific restrictions and conditions.  Having looked at the restrictions placed on churches, it was agreed by the Church Leadership that we take all necessary measures to ensure the safe re-opening of our building for worship, prayer and teaching services.

RETURNING TO CHURCH

The health and safety of our church family and community is still our highest priority, and over the past few months the church have conducted a COVID-risk assessment and have taken all precautionary steps for us to return to our place of worship.

With the safety of worshipers and people in mind, we will be abiding by the social distancing rules. If many people arrive at one time, please be prepared to queue to help maintain social distancing. Ushers will supervise and direct you as required. We also ask that you cooperate with Ushers where seating is concerned; households or ‘support bubbles’ will be seated together by Ushers.  We will be abiding by the “rule of six” with exceptions to apply where households exceed the number of six.  Please note that invited guests may be seated with you, but with social distanced seating arrangements. The Sanctuary will be priority seating for the less able, older people and parents with young children. Other seating will be made available in the Balcony.

Hand sanitisation points have been made available in the church.  All visitors will be required to sanitise as soon as they enter the Welcome Area of the Church.  It is now a requirement by law that facial masks must be worn by all those attending a place of worship. We ask that you wear your mask over both your nose and mouth, on arrival and throughout the church service.

The church will also be complying with the government guidelines for Testing & Tracing. In order to fulfil this all regular attendees must complete their iKnow church database profile for their entire household. If you are a guest or planning to visit us for the first time, please download this form, complete and bring it with you to church.

If you are continuing to self-isolate or feel unwell, we ask that you do not come into the church but stay home to respect the safety of others and prevent the spread of the virus

Sunday Services will be live streamed to the SSBC YouTube channel so that you can continue to worship and engage from home.

DISCIPLESHIP CLASSES & HOUSE OF PEACE (HOP)

All discipleship classes and HOP will continue to be online until further notice.  We encourage you to continue feeding your spiritual life by engaging with us weekly.

DAILY DEVOTIONS

Daily Devotions will continue to be sent via email, Monday-Saturday. We encourage you to use this for reading, reflection and application. If you would like to join the mailing list, please contact the church office.

CHILDREN & YOUTH MINISTRY

The Children’s ministry will commence on Sunday 27 September in the Upper Room. Please note that social distancing and hygiene will be maintained.

The Y Factor youth ministry will resume their church service from Sunday 4 October, in the Lower Hall of the church building.

PASTORAL CARE

The Pastors, leaders and Watchmen (prayer and intercession team) of SSBC are on standby to pray and support you if you are anxious or affected by the outbreak of COVID-19. We care about you and love you so don’t feel alone. Please contact us to let us know about your situation and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We want you to know that you are not just a number to us in this church but highly valued and loved.

Finally, I will leave you with this bible verse as the Lord will speak to us;

'Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.' Isa 41:10 (NASU)
