COVID-19 Updates

Please check here for regular updates concerning Sunday services and Discipleship Classes at South Street Baptist Church.

Following the easing of the lockdown restrictions in England, churches are now permitted to re-open for services with the provision that they follow COVID-secure guidance and have completed the necessary risk assessments. South Street Baptist Church will resume its Sunday services as of May 2, 2021.  Government guidelines stipulate 'that the number of individuals or households permitted in a place of worship at any one time will be dependent on the size of the building and ability to socially distance therein.'  We will continue to keep our congregation safe by asking the congregation to wear masks throughout the service; sanitise hands on arrival, and only sit with their households or social bubbles.

The live streamed YouTube services will remain available to those who are unable to physically come into the church building. Subscribe to our channel and click the bell icon so you don't miss an upload.

RETURNING TO CHURCH

The health and safety of our church family and community is still our highest priority. We will continue to action our COVID-risk assessment and take all precautionary steps for us to return to our place of worship. We will continue to adhere to the social distancing measures and rule of six as mentioned below.

With the safety of worshipers and people in mind, we will be abiding by the social distancing rules. If many people arrive at one time, please be prepared to queue to help maintain social distancing. Ushers will supervise and direct you as required. We also ask that you cooperate with Ushers where seating is concerned; households or ‘support bubbles’ will be seated together by Ushers.  We will be abiding by the “rule of six” with exceptions to apply where households exceed the number of six.  Please note that invited guests may be seated with you, but with social distanced seating arrangements. The Sanctuary will be priority seating for the less able, older people and parents with young children. Other seating will be made available in the Balcony.

Hand sanitisation points have been made available in the church.  All visitors will be required to sanitise as soon as they enter the Welcome Area of the Church or wash their hands if preferred.  It is now a requirement by law that facial masks must be worn by all those attending a place of worship. We ask that you wear your mask over both your nose and mouth, on arrival and throughout the church service.

The church will also be complying with the government guidelines for Test & Trace. In order to fulfil this, all regular attendees must complete their iKnow church database profile for their entire household. If you are a guest or planning to visit us for the first time, please download this form, complete and bring it with you to church. All contact information submitted by guests will be destroyed after 21 days in accordance with the Test & Trace guidelines.

If you are continuing to self-isolate or feel unwell, we ask that you do not come into the church but stay home to protect the safety of others and prevent the spread of the virus

PASTORAL CARE

The Pastors, leaders and Watchmen (prayer and intercession team) of SSBC are on standby to pray and support you if you are anxious or affected by the outbreak of COVID-19. We care about you and love you so don’t feel alone. Please contact us to let us know about your situation and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We want you to know that you are not just a number to us in this church but highly valued and loved.

Finally, I will leave you with this bible verse as the Lord will speak to us;

'Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.' Isaiah 41:10 (NASU)
